The Challenge Day Three and keeping warm

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Yesterday was day three of The Challenge. I had every intention of posting but the dh and I went to bed early so I didn't get a chance to do so.
I wore a simple long sleeved grey jersey dress with black slip on boots. I did laundry, ran errands, cooked dinner and all the normal household tasks.
Now the temperature didn't get above 30 degrees yesterday so I had to keep warm in my dress. I did this by wearing something called a pettipant or pant slip under my dress. Pant slips are made to wear underneath slacks to keep warm while wearing them. I got mine from the Goodwill store about a year ago or so. They are a cream colored silky poly type fabric and are ankle length. This allows me to tuck them into thick socks that I wear during the winter months.
Another way to keep warm is to wear solid colored leggings under your dresses and skirts. I have a pair of black cotton ones that are thicker than the spandex ones in stores. They should be going on sale right about now since they are considered "winter wear" by most stores. Some stores may even have them as clearance items-I've seen them low as $3.00 a pair. A tip is to buy them size larger than your normal size. This is for comfort since they tend to run on the small size.
Also thick socks and tights help to keep your legs warm in the winter. If you are handy with a needle and thread making winter slips out of flannel will keep you warm.
Until next time

Second Day of The Challenge

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Today was the second day of The Feelin' Feminine Challenge. For those who haven't gotten a chance to read the last post I did here is the rundown; starting yesterday (Monday February 2ND) I am only going to wear skirts or dresses for the next seven days.
Today I had a simple black skirt with pockets and a white tee shirt. I cleaned both of the bathrooms, vacuumed, helped clean the oven and top of the stove, wrapped packages for mailing, make our bed and lots of other household tasks.
I had no problems and in fact was able to reach and kneel a lot easier since I was not being limited the way pants or jeans would have done to me.
I wanted an opinion on this whole matter so I decided to ask my dear hubby what he thought of me dressing the way I had been. This is what he said to me, "I think it's great thing. I think you look very attractive. And feel honored and blessed that my wife would dress sensually and beautifully for me unlike the large quantity of women who only dress this way for church, their job or going out with friends."
So with that I will tell everyone "good night" (it's nearly 11 pm here :-) )

A challenge to all ladies

Monday, February 2, 2009

Normally, I would have had my menu for the week posted but this week's menu has been changed due to a few things. So instead I'm going to post the first day of my participation in
The Feelin' Feminine Challenge.
If you don't know anything about The Challenge, let me give you a little background on it. A young home schooled senior lady named Jocelyn has a website called Feelin' Feminine (http://feelinfeminine.com) where Miss Jocelyn is bring lady like dress and behavior back in today's lost world. The Challenge as she calls it is to wear skirts and dresses for seven days. She gives tips on how to do this and be fashionable at the same time.
Today I decided to wear a grey short sleeved cotton shirt under a dark green sueded cotton jumper with hose and slip on black shoes. Little did I know that we were under a winter storm warning and still am until tomorrow evening. We currently have about two inches of snow on the ground.
In my dress I managed to wrap packages, change diapers, fold laundry, make lunch along with all the normal housework. In some ways wearing a dress made doing the housework easier since jeans have a bad habit of limiting one's bending and stretching reach.
I have decided already what I will be wearing tomorrow. I have a black full pleated skirt that is mid calf length with nice deep pockets that I plan to wear with a white tee shirt and black tights since tomorrow is bathroom cleaning day for me.
If anyone would like to join me in the challenge please feel free to do so. Let's encourage each other and make this form of fashion our everyday dress not just for church and special occasions.
I would love to hear how the challenge is going for other ladies.

Blessings until next time...
